Retired & Senior Volunteer Program
You've gained a lifetime of experience. Now is the time to put your skills and talents to good use by volunteering through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
RSVP is a part of Senior Corps, a program administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service. RSVP is America's largest volunteer network for people age 55 and over. Join RSVP and you join nearly 500,000 volunteers across the country who are tackling tough issues in their communities.
With RSVP, you choose how and where you want to serve. You choose the amount of time you want to give, and whether you want to draw on your skills or develop new ones. In short, you find the opportunity that's right for you. When you volunteer, you're not just helping others, you're helping yourself. With RSVP you'll receive pre-service orientation, training from the organization where you serve, and supplemental insurance while on duty.
S.H.A.K.E. (Seniors Helping All Kids’ Education) – a project of Benton Franklin RSVP
What does it take to succeed in school? Determination, self-discipline, an inquisitive mind, and support from caring adults are important for scholastic achievement. Yet, success also requires something often taken for granted – school supplies.
Each year S.H.A.K.E. helps by providing 1000s of school supplies to students in need. In July collection sites are set up at local businesses, churches, and civic organizations. Cash donations are received to purchase additional items. In August RSVP volunteers gather, sort and box up grade-appropriate school supplies and deliver them, based on the student need at each school, to 79 public schools throughout Benton and Franklin Counties.
How can you help?Additional volunteers are always welcome. Your donation of school supplies or cash will help us fill these boxes. Click here for a list of collection sites, or click on DONATE to make a cash donation (please designate SHAKE - RSVP).
